Totally, my vet explained that he likes to keep an eye on them just to make sure they have no side effects from the anaesthesia, my vet lives in his surgery.
He also wanted to be sure that he didn't do anything to his stitches.
Little dogs can react badly to the anaesthetic, and my vet didn't charge me for the overnight stay as it's part of his service.
