They are sometimes held overnight postop. This should only be done if somebody is there with them. If they aren't staffed overnight, then it is safer for the dog to come home to be watched (in the case of indoor dogs).
She will probably be slow and lethargic for a few days. She should come home with pain meds. No running, jumping, climbing, taking walks, etc. for at least a week and preferably til the sutures come out.
Here it would be a half meal tonight and normal feedings starting tomorrow.
