Since you are only going to be here for the weekend, I suggest take one of the tour buses that drive you around Manhattan, its a guided tour and you sit on the bus and have a great view. You can get off and on at different site if there are some you really want to see up close. There are buses that leave from Time Square and you can choice either a tour of lower Manhattan, Midtown, or upper Manhattan. I like the lower Manhattan tour, more to see (in my opinion). Whenever we have people from out of town, we take them on this tour so then can get a good overview of the city and its sites, I think I love it more than they do.
