They are okay if a pup needs immediate relief. It is almost never the treatment of choice long-term if Atopica or allergy shots work (if it's environemntal). Or if it's food, the diet should be changed and then the steroid wouldn't be needed. It's only been 6 weeks, so a food allergy can't be ruled out yet. Also, since you gave hamburger the other night, the whole elimination diet has to be started over. Most foods that you can get from the pet store aren't great candidates for elimination diets though.

So they are okay to use, but they aren't the easiest drugs for pups to process. Finding an alternative is pretty important/figuring out what the allergy is, etc.
