When I contemplated getting a Yorkie I brought it up to my husband. He said his usual "we will see". I researched and researched. I spoke to every breeder in my State I believe all the while him saying "we will see".
I had also contacted a Yorkie rescue group here. One of the girls I work with has Yorkies so I put the word out with her and just waited. I waited for a very long time. I never found a breeder I especially liked here in my area as most were breeding mixes and other breeds along with the Yorkies, or they called them tea cups, or wanted over 2,000 for pups.
We decided to move and in the process of packing I get a phone call from my co-worker. She knows of a girl who bought a Yorkie from a BYB and CHANGED HER MIND!! (Don't even get me started on that!) and the breeder refused to take the pup back. At first I refused. I was moving and I really didn't want a pup from a BYB. We were also moving into a home that was owned by a friend. She rescues animals and the house had a resident cat and dog (Hera and Rudy) who we had agreed to take care of, so with 3 animals I figured my plate was FULL! She told me if she didn't find someone to take the Pup it would get placed in the paper and who knows who may get it. So I agreed to look at him.
She brought him to me wrapped in a little blanket and it was love at first sight. Now remember I just agreed to see the pup not take the pup. Before I knew what was happening I had adopted Moshe. I was 100 percent unprepared. We had somethings because of our other Dog Bella, but I had to make a mad dash to Petscence!
My husband must travel for his work so I called him and informed him that we had adopted a Yorkie pup. He just sighed. I figured he would bond with Moshe but I had no idea they would be as close as they are. When Avi is home all Moshe does is cuddle with him. My Husband thinks Moshe is the smartest Dog he has ever owned and is truly happy we have him. In fact we are really happy with all out fur kids. We feel blessed that we have these amazing animals that we care for and that love us back. My nights consist of watering, training, walking and feeding but I love every minute of it.
So see....sometimes it is easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask permission.
