If it ever happens again...the vet is not necessary...just press a paper towel with Quik Stop on it for 10 mins...repeat if necessary. I had a Doxie lose an entire toe nail and it only bled for about 5 mins...not gushing...just a steady drip and the Quik Stop worked...then I bandaged it. I do not bandage a too short nail...needs air to heal faster...
I do not think the vet should have billed you...and I would go elsewhere and tell them why if they do not reembruise you. |
As a groomer...it does happen from time to time. Very easy to take care of. At times I get dogs in for first time grooming and the dog's nails are so long the quick has extended way past where it should be so, making the nail bleed can't be helped. However, you tell them owner why and how to care for the dog. In addition you tell the owner that nail clipping should be done routinely....
