Anyone's kids jealous of their yorkie, or it is just an empty-nest thing?

Both my kids (daugher 20, son 18) were home from college this past Easter weekend and while there was alot of joking about it, I seriously think they're a lil jealous of ZoE!

Within an hour of being home, my son looked at my daughter and said, "we've been replaced by a dog!" and began jokingly blaming each other about whose idea it was to get mum a dog. My daughter said, "how come I don't get treats & love when I go pee?" and said, "you must love your furbaby more than your skinkids cos her Easter outfit is way cuter than either of ours!" To which my son replied, "what the hell is a skinkid???" It was all said jokingly & they were having alot of fun with it, but I think it bothered them just a lil bit to come home & see how happy I am with ZoE.

Funny thing is, THEY, having grown up with a yorkie & knowing that's the only kind of dog I'd ever want, bought me ZoE after talking to each other & deciding with them both away at college, that I needed a pup for company.

Anyone else notice a lil pup jealousy with their kids?
