First off, you should buy a small bag of the Royal Canin if your breeder is not supplying it- you should not switch the puppy from what they are used to right away. Once the puppy is settled into your house, has been checked by the vet, etc. you can start a gradual change.

With yorkies because they eat so little, small differences in price don't equate to much of a difference overall. Plus like someone else said, you usually see less vet visits and less health problems with the better foods.

One brand I really like to recommend for people looking for something on the cheaper/ easier to find end is Natural Balance- they also have a ton of different formulas, so you can easily switch around if your dog gets bored with one variety or if you just like to give them variety.
