As sad as it is, pain and suffering lawsuits for families of pets are few and far between. That seems like a nice chunk of $ under the current system, unfortunately. But if pets were classed differently, more like humans, that may not be such a good thing either. At the very least, the cost of vet care will skyrocket because more insurance will have to be carried for malpractice, etc.
