When he was 3 months he was potty trained. We would be in the living room and he would run to his area in the kitchen to pee. But now it seems like he has forgotten everything about potty training. As a breeder I tell my families never to begin expecting miracles until a pup is 6 months of age. And keep in mind after they are potty trained they will have occassional accidents.
I've never used crate training; my feeling is that it's where they sleep and I want them to like going there.
Your pup is a baby.....the kitchen area is still a bit too large. Get an x-pen; line the bottom with a water proof table cloth. Add a bed, washable pee-pad, water, toys. I don't allow them to have free run of the house unless I can watch them every moment.
