I think some can be too attached so that they are really uncomfortable and ill-at-ease, even scared when we are not around or in constant attendance, but I think that is rare. Most Yorkies are "people" dogs and just love their people, want to be involved in whever we are up to, "nosy" about whatever we are doing but retain enough independence not to be super needy or "clingers", whining when you leave the room. I would not be worried about it in a puppy.
