I just weighed the bag and it weighs 3lbs without anything in it. My Jamie is a little over 9lbs. It doesn't feel that heavy with her in it unless I am carrying it for a really long time. (And I also pack a ton of other stuff in it so I don't have to carry another handbag.) You could weigh your other bag and see what the difference is. I bet it is only a few ounces heavier-I would think it is the weight of the dog(s) that would really make the difference.
