I should say you can buy paper kitty liter that is better for rabbits and cats... it is a bit more expensive though. Do not use kitty liter in the cage, but you can use kitty liter in the liter box. They are only in the liter box for a few mins a few times a day, but they are in their cage for hours on end.
I think rabbits live longer when they are outdoor pets ... Ive had both and the life span difference is usually about 5 years indoors and 8-9 years outdoors.
