I use mostly positive training, but when Harley was a pup he needed a bit of clarity that marking blankets = no, no.

I use a time out method. I use the same thing when he barks. If I catch him in the act, then I say "no" and crate him with absolutely nothing in the crate, for 30 seconds to 5 min (depending on his behavior in the crate) Honestly it only took 3-4 time outs for him to really get it. I used that to supplement the positive training.

So maybe I'm a meanie mom, but it works really well with him, he just some times needs to have a more stern re-inforcement
