so sorry for your experience, & so in agreement with all the comments, makes me sooo crazy that someone who goes to church whatever their denomination can be so uncaring. unfortunately some people just are not animal lovers & just don't get it, their loss!!!! i would have said & done same as you & could care less if others laught @ me, dogs are more loyal than most people & i treat people & animals the same & as a real christian would. my mantra is & always will be treat others the way you would want to be treated & that certainly includes ALL animals. Bless you & just feel sorry for her because she just dosen't get it & probably never will so don't try to change her or let her make you feel like you are a crazy animal lover. you sound perfect !!!!!!
