I have both curved and straight scissors from Heritage I think and from Tweezerman that are about 8 and 10 inches long. It's very hard to do the body with short scissors and the good thing about Tweezerman is that even though they are made for human hair, they resharpen for free. Just mail them to the address on every package.
I have about 4 pairs of them I use for the doggies and me and hubby, too. then get a pair of the ball tipped scissors from the same company like you would use to trim a man's nose and ear hairs. I use those to trim the hair close to the eyes and around the ears. I know it sounds expensive but I paid between $60 and $125.00 per pair for my scissors. It's worth it in the long run because the cheap ones are not even worth re-sharpening and they won't cut hair but once or twice.
When I trim the ears edges and the penis I grip the edge of the ear or penis with my fingers where only the hair is sticking out and then trim right at my fingers. That way you can't cut any flesh but your own. My grandmother was a beautician and taught me how to do that so you don't cut someones ear.
The hair close to the eyes scares me the worst because there is nothing you can do. I always use the ball tip scissors and come from the top down. That way you may stick them in the top of the nose if they jerk but you aren't nearly as likely to stick them in the eye. It always scares me though. |
