If you use a mild shampoo and conditioner suited to your dogs needs AND you properly rinse the coat out you will not increase oil production. Increased oil production will only occur if you are stripping the coat with harsh degreasers or scrubbing/scouring the skin. Also, if the products you are using are leaving the hair oily then you are either not rinsing the product out enough or you are not diluting it properly.
