Their noses are sooo sensitive that they do want to sniff "everything" and they will as long as they're allowed to. But as said - his walks should be for "walking" not investigating - lol! Try doing a quick "leave it" - a gentle tug away from the item - a "good boy" and continue walking. Training does take time but he will learn with the repetition. Let us know how he does with whatever method you use.
