Okay, I hope your granny isn't where mine is. My arm would have to be very long to reach up to heaven. But, actually, she was the person who used that statement. We were so poor and she prided herself in making the best "bloney samiges". She would slice it thick (you had to buy a chunk not sliced) and put it in a hot iron skillet and blacken it on both sides. Slap it on 2 slices of white bread slathered with manase...The bread soaked up all the fat and was sorta like the bread on BigMacs..all gooey. That would be a meal for the two of us often and I still LOVE bloney..
Therein endeth the saga of how "slap your granny" began. I love those old-timey sayings. I picked up some that cannot be posted when I worked at the Convention Center in Balto..Love them too..
