I don't think any fleas will survive the borac acid long enough to climb (jump?) on the furniture. Perhaps if you vaccum the furniture very, very well before the carpet treatment, that would help....though I admit I never did. Matter of fact the acid doesn't just kill fleas....any insect in the house will be history. Last time I used it....I only had two rooms with a flea problem...the rooms the kitties preferred...I only did those two rooms. I didn't have any fleas "move" into untreated areas.
