I started taping my dogs ears early, then went to the vet. He told me that the cartlidge on her ears really wouldn't be strong enough until right around six months to stand up. So I quit taping them, and just kept the hair shaved off. They went up and down, and up and down the whole time. When she neared the six month mark, and they weren't staying up, I cut out a teardrop shaped piece of cereal box, and placed it on the inside of her ear (not in the canal or anything, just on the upper part of the ear) and then taped that. I left it on for three days, and viollla, they stayed up. She is a bigger yorkie (9lbs) and her ears are pretty big. I really wanted them to stand up, and they finally did. Dont give up if you really want them to stand up. I have read on here that if you don't get them up by 6 months they never will so keep trying.
