Thank you all for your insight. The big dogs were easy to train outside (I volunteer for a charity that raises service dogs, that's why we've had so many 'big' dogs), but this itty bitty little guy is a tough call. The heavy rain and wind yesterday was not helpful in taking him out. He would hold it and wait until later and go on the rug...next to his pee pads. He's even quickly mastered the bells, but he rings them when he wants to go out to play. We are working on that part. Little stinker. Think I will continue to take him outside, but will keep the pee pads in place and hope he gets the hang of them for bad weather. Would an attractant spray help?
Thanks again!
