She was a 4 year old puppy mill rescue that the people got in January and had a new baby and couldn't deal with her issues. We weighed her and she was just under 5 lbs. She was one of the cutest babies I have seen. She had a little pink collar on and was so confused. The tech assured me she would either take her home (she lives above the shelter) or someone would. It just broke my heart. I know she will get adopted quickly though. I really wish people would take pet ownership as a life time commitment before getting one. I will keep you posted on her. |
I'm not sure how I missed this part of your post to begin with but somehow I did. I'd love to know what rescue this woman got this Maltese from and why she didn't return the dog to them

Reputable rescues have a clause in their adoption contract that you need to return the dog to them if you are ever not able to take care of the pup. This leads me to wonder if the rescue has been notified of the surrender. Is the little girl microchipped? She should be scanned and the rescue should be notified immediately that the dog is in their possession. The rescue will come and pick her up. It is a very serious matter when a rescue is turned into a shelter and they are not notified this was done by the adoptee. Patti, do you know if they have the name of the rescue or if the dog is chipped? This woman had no business dropping this dog off like she did !
