I don't think this is lame at all. I think we all need to feel like we belong. I am a very social person. I don't hesitate to send a PM if I have a question. Maybe you could start doing that too. Just jump right in!
I think the more you are "heard" the more people remember you. Then as you continue to post they will know who you are and it will build from there. I may be completely wrong on this.
