I know taping was the only way my babe's ears stood. (I saw the parents. Her father's ears were floppy) I am doing it again with my new pup. I was very careful never to keep them taped for more than 3 days, then cleaned the ears, shaved the ear and left them alone until they flopped again. Each time she held them longer. By her 4th mo. she was holding them most of the time and by 5th mo. never taped. I know it is a preference and some ears never stand..but I felt like I had to try.
I asked many people and my Vet before I started the taping..for it was quite a commitment on both of us. He felt like it was great and showed me how. Said the major worry was not to leave on more than a week and really clean the ears and check them for any signs of smell (infection). He also said to give the ears plenty of "rest" days between taping.
Just don't give up..keep taping until you have results or determine the ears will never stand. Many pups take months to pull their ears up..I just didn't want to take the chance and wait too long to start..Again it was a decission I made and may not be what you want to do..
