I know you said this at the beginning of the thread Ann, but just think it is such a wise thing to say.
Along that same line ... my brother said something wise to me after his car was stolen and he had time to reflect. He said, "Never love something that can't love you back." That really made me think and I have honestly tried to incorporate that into my life.
