I am so sorry Tucker is so ill.

I would take him to an internist or a vet school, and definitely get a second opinion! You poor guys and poor Tucker.

My IG with cardiomyopathy is on furosemide and she gets bloodwork every three weeks. One purpose of it is to monitor her kidney because the furosemide can cause renal problems. None of the dogs I've have with renal failure have had fluid buildup in the abdomen. I would wonder about the liver values or his heart, too.

I think you are right to question the vet, although he may be right.
