I agree with the other posters that you should talk to your vet about what flea preventative to use. I personaly use Frontline Plus. Just make sure you don't use any cheap brands like Hartz, they can cause big problems and don't really work anyway.
Treats - anything natural. Just like Presto recommended, my dogs LOVE Zukes brand (especially the peanut butter and blueberry mini bakes
) and for Alice's "training sessions" I use their mini natural peanut butter flavor because they're really tiny and soft so it can easily break them into even tinier pieces. Just stay away from anything you'd find in the grocery store
. Browse the "natural foods section" at your Petco or if you have a small privatly owned good pet store.
Mardelin gave good advice for the bathroom area hair (love your wording too - "ornaments" hahaha).
