I've had numerous foster rescues from breeder situations and all of them have had a bad odor.....in fact every female I've ever got from breeders have the same bad odor and it lasts for months, regardless of what shampoo, conditioner, cologne, etc I've used. It's as if, living in those kennels makes some bad odor permeate their skin. I've also noticed the scent on dogs I've picked up at shelters too. I think the longer the dog has lived in the kennel, the longer it takes to get rid of the odor.
Sophie Kate has been with me for about a year and I've noticed the past 6 months, the odor is finally gone.
Good luck with your girl. Definitely have her seen by a dermatologist but the odor she has (if she was a former kennel dog) may just take time to get rid of, try to be patient. |

Great new insight to the problem. Good to see that people have new angles on the situation.
You are just referring to the smell though right? The itching should still be looked at by a specialist? I hope the derm vet can help!
Just thought I would clarify for the OP (and me!).
