I wanted to cry reading this heartbreaking news. My prayers are with your grandaughter. May Spooky RIP. My heart goes out to your family. Please give your grandaughter a hug from me.

I know how one can be filled with so much anger they want and will do harm to the dog who attacked. When Gus was attacked by a German Shepherd I went to the owners house to tell them what their dog did and the damn dog growled at me. I was too scared to walk all the way up to the door for fear that she would come after me. There was no car in the driveway so I figuared they werent home. I did call the police because she was out walking the streets, and they came with the animal control, they gave them a fine and a warning. About 4 months later there was a dead chi that was found in it's own back yeard. They lived next door to the Shephard but there was no proof that she did outside of the big hole under the fence that she dug,,,, but since nobody seen anything, they can't prove she did it. Not even a week after that she got out again and got ahold of a puppy and killed it right infront of the kids who where playing with her in their front yard. It took 3 attackes for them to finally take the dog away.

Now I may get bashed for this but I wouldn't think twice of pulling an Annie Oaklie if I felt my kids or Gus were being threatened by a dog in our own yard. It's really sad because it's totally the owners fault and these poor dogs have to suffer for their owners mistakes.
