Wait, so he's going pee inside after he just went outside? He's either marking or has a UTI. It's not normal to go outside and then come inside and do it again. Has he been neutered yet? Neutering should help a lot and he's at the perfect age.
With Jackson, I would do what you are doing... take him out first thing in the morning and if for some reason he only went pee, or only went poop, he'd go back in the crate for 10 more minutes. Then I'd try again. He didn't get freedom until he did both (because as a pup, I knew he always had to do both in the morning). He potty trained pretty easily and had free roam by 5 1/2 months old but I was super consistent. When he was out of the crate, it was only after I knew he had went potty outside (and I praised and gave him treats every time) and in a small confined area, like the kitchen gated off, etc. |
