I agree, I used to collect stuff, like ornaments etc, that my family gave me, then I started to realized that half of it was dollar store stuff (my grandmother whom I dearly love is a wee bit of a horder). And after the third move (in school) I gave up on half the crap, now when I move I only keep things I've used or displayed in the last year, I only have one box of books and one box of baby stuff that isn't being used.

As for dog things.... well Harley has soooo many toys and I love making and buying them.

I also eventually hope to ad Yorkies to my collection when I have enough money to have a house full of the little fuzz balls
