Default Warming up to the house

Hello!
Harley is about 7 months now and he is the best dog i have ever had. Harley is the first inside dog my family has had and hearing about the myth that yorkies are hard to potty train has become a personal challenge for me. Durring the day, when we cant watch Harley, he is confined to an area in the kitchen(so he doesnt feel like he's being punished by being alone) that is about 3 feet wide, and 6 feet long. in the confined area we have a peepee pad and he only uses that from time to time. i give him a treat EVERY time he goes peepee or poopoo outside. he is pretty consistent about going outside but does sometimes use the pad. I do gradually want to get rid of him using the pad entirely. I live in Southeren California so winter cold in not a major factor in potty training. im also 17 so any help would be greatly aprecitated, thanks!
here are my question
1.Can anyone give me advice on introducing Harley to the house? i dont want him to be constrained to his confined area forever.
2. any tips or tricks you guys have for potty training a yorkie?
Thanks again!!!
