I am an RN in Kentucky and worked as a nursing assistant before finishing nursing school. Now nursing assistants can't discontinue IV's or any other procedure here. Mainly bath, bed changes, turning patients, vitals and passing meal trays. They never touch any medicines. As a nurse I value what they do. They are under paid and overworked. Becoming a pediatric nurse was one of the best choices I have made. Good luck in whatever you decide!
