Lou, do not let their archaic ways of thinking change who you are. They are but shells of human forms wandering the earth, until they really 'know' the love of a precious Yorkie, they will never be 'whole' in heart or spirit!
Just to be so unaccepting and judgemental of what is so true and dear in someone else's heart is callous and rude, to say the least. They were deprived of love as children and adults, and are trying to find it in partying and shopping!
And just remember, we could do what they do... and love a puppy or two. And not miss a beat, and be kind and accepting of others passions, and tolerant of others' differences.
It is Okay to be different. If we were all the same, the world would be a bit boring.
When they make rude remarks, I would just tell them...
Look, I can understand that you may not 'get' me, but my pups are like childen to me. I choose to feel this way, and if you don't like it, and can't accept that they are part of me, then please do not make stupid remarks, I really don't care to hear it, in fact, I have heard it all before. If that is all you have to offer, then, please, don't even stop by my desk... just keep walking. On the other hand, for those who have children, I understand the love you have for them, and would never say anything out of line or insult you for loving them, so please just extend me that curtesy and allow me to love who, what, where and when I choose, and keep your inappropriate comments to yourselves.
And I want to see pics of your desk, redecorated, with a big 8x12 glossy of the winning 'World's Best Yorkie Butt' Contest photo of Adie in the middle! And make another sign to frame and display... 'World's Best Yorkie Mama', because you are, and here, at YT, know that you are loved and very respected. And don't you forget it.
