Diarrhea - Adult Yorkie Sydney, who's going to be two in June, has had diarrhea with bouts of constipation during the day since Saturday night. Her droppings were very soft Friday night. She had diarrhea again last night after not going all day. She hasn't gone since eating breakfast this morning. I started giving her brown rice mixed with a few bits of her regular kibble yesterday for her meals. I had read online to starve an adult dog with diarrhea for 24-48 hours to work out whatever is in their system, but that seemed a bit harsh. That's why I am doing the rice instead.
History: On Friday, with the nicer weather, we went to the dog park. I started training her to not to bark at other people with positive training. Every time she did something good, she got a treat (her treats are actually bits of dog food we get as free samples from the pet store). It was a grain-free treat we had never tried before. The soft poos started that night with full blown diarrhea the next night. On Thursday, while we were at the dog park, she had drank from a mud puddle, but the diarrhea didn't start until Saturday night. Is there something else safe I could try, or just give it one more day? I'm willing to call the vet now, but I want to make sure I'm doing all I can before panicking and calling the doctor.
