Gizmo is asleep on me now. The x ray showed no collapsed trachea, however there seems to be a little bit of cartilage abnormality in the upper cavity. The vet thinks this could just be inflammation from coughing our he could be just born that way.
Also, Gizmo's heart, which was big and beautiful, seems to be turned a little and not symmetrical. He said this should not cause a problem but he doesn't see it too often.
His diagnoses is that its a respiratory infection/kennel cough. He was put on a strong dose of antibioticsand Robatussin.
Tonight was terrifying and its nights like these that I'm happy I enrolled him in an insurance plan.
I have to stay home from work with him today to make sure everything is okay. Thank you all for all your prayers. Hopefully, its just kennel cough and the heart and abnormal cartilage isn't an issue.
However, I think ill have my normal vet take a look during his neutring, per the emergency vet, to see if the cartilage abnormality is possibly causing some soft pallet blockage. Anyone ever heard of that? |
