Default Sudden Hearing Loss

I have a very active, hyper and happy 6 year old yorkie, Toby. Last Tuesday, 4-5-11, I took Toby to his 2nd teeth cleaning apt. He had his teeth cleaned in July, but the vet said he had a couple of teeth that needed to come out so he wouldn't get an infection. He said Toby could get an infection and it could travel to the eye and even the brain and cause bigger problems. I took him in around 8am and picked him up about 230pm. The vet said everything went well! We got home and Toby basically slept the rest of the day, which this is what he did when he got his teeth cleaned before. My husband and I worked Wednesday, all day. We got home that night and realized Toby still seemed, what we thought, groggy. We assumed it was taking the meds a little more time to get out of his system. Then on Thursday, we realized this wasn't normal. Toby couldn't hear us well and he wasn't his crazy, active self. He was scared of us and any time we went to touch him, it was like he was afraid we were getting on to him. Friday, he couldn't hear anything! He couldn't hear us calling him, the doorbell, our alarm, knocking on the door etc. Took him to the vet and he said he just didn't know what was wrong with him. He removed wax from Tobys ears and gave us an antibiotic drop to put in them. We have done this since Friday and he still can't hear anything. If anyone can enlighten me on what may be wrong with him, please do so. I am so worried about him and I can't imagine how he feels, living his life in silence all of a sudden. Thanks!!
