Have you updated your Java to current version and uninstalled the old Java version(a must) and set your security settings to accept all cookies, gone to Manage Add-ons and enabled all your programs that allow things like "chat" to work properly, etc.?
No? Ha! Neither had I but when I started Googling what to do for chats that won't open, etc., I got the above advice, did it all, restarted computer several times in the process - and now I can get in but hardly anyone ever there or they are chatting about something I'm not into right then.
