I purchased this book today "A RARE BREED OF LOVE" by Jana Kohl.
I got it from a used books shop this afternoon.

It was published in 2008, so maybe most of you may have read it or
must have heard of her advocacy. Baby is a poodle who suffered
from abusein a puppy mill, eventually she found HOME but had a leg
amputated due to osteoporosis.

I couldnt put down the book while having dinner (waiting for a
business friend) and the waitresses caught my tears rolling down.

Very little is known about what happens in puppy mills and
commercial breeders in our country (Philippines). And being a newbie
in dog-lovin' myself, I was really terrified when I saw the pictures.

Baby the poodle was 8 years old when she was about to be killed by
the breeder. Someone just came in time to rescue poor Baby who "is
too old to produce". Wow, that's so cruel. And i am totally moved by
the story.

For those who want to read or want to read again, it's available as
an ebook.

I just hope people in the Philippines understand that dogs (and all
animals) have a right to live a good life, too! I hope, too, that
rescue groups here like PAWS and SAWS will get enough supporters
to fund campaigns on animal rescue and adoption.
Oh, I just love the doggie icons!
