That's what happened to Joey, it took forever for him to get 4 pounds, and I was really praying he'd make that, then we took him to a trick training class, where he was getting too many treats, along with his regular food, and he got to be a little puff ball, I didn't even notice it, now I try to weigh regularly. Just like with humans, you want to do a sensible diet, not a starvation diet.
