 Could it be a cold?

It has been a while since I have posted anything (work and school) but Rambo and I would like to say Happy Holidays to everyone!!
Now for a question...
The other night Rambo has been sniffling, but it was a sniffling like he was choking or about to throw up. It happened for about 30 sec to 1 min. He was just playing with his toys. Nothing was on the floor that is unusual. He doesn't do this all the time but he has done it a coule of times before. But the other day it kinda of freaked me out. After the little episode he was back on the floor playing again. Could it be a cold? He goes to the vet next week.
