Omg Snake In My Backyard!

I'm calm now but 2 hours ago I was hyperventilating & in hysterics. I let Max outside to potty and heard him barking oddly. Cooper and I went outside to see what was going on. Max was hitting and playing with a HUGE snake. I immediately grabbed Cooper and tried to grab Max but he ran from me. After screaming and shouting wildly I finally got a hold of Max and all 3 of us ran safely inside.

It's all a blur to me now. The snake was coiled in the corner and appeared to be at least 4' long and about the diameter just a bit smaller than a water bottle. It looked tremendous and I don't think I'm exaggerating. It was dark in color and I can't remember any pattern or any other characteristics.

I've been crying for about an hour as I already have a fear of snakes from having a snake infested apartment (long, thin snakes living under the carpet and showing up randomly) when I lived in Florida 3 years ago. I called my partner to come home from work and we searched the whole yard and found nothing.

I'm not sure what to do. I called animal control and any county departments I could think of, including my pest control guy and they can't help.

Does anyone know of a pet-safe way to get rid of snakes. I'm fairly traumatized, especially after finally getting over the apartment infestation.
