I am a bit suspect about putting the pup down instead of removing the leg...seen it happen to breeder friends and pet owner friends..dogs did fabulous with three good legs, recovered fast and never acted like anything was wrong....but I do not know all the circumstances...but I would not destroy a Yorkie puppy or adult with a broken leg..
One of mine broke hers in two places, complete breaks, not a minor crack...took five months to heal, but today you would never know she had a broken leg...ever.
