Labs are great, very loyal, but they stay puppies for YEARS! Lots of energy. In my opinion, when you rescue a dog, you just don't know what you are getting. There is usually a reason the dog was given up in the first place. If it's your first dog and can have all of your attention you are probably ok with it, but as a third dog, you are looking at a lot of work and sometimes a lot of "unlearning" of bad habits. Of course, that said, our lab came from the pound and he's a good boy. I think it's just the luck of the draw when you rescue. some are great, others are more challenging.
