I use Twitter, I follow mostly news and weather (okay and some celebs).
The basics of Twitter is the person sending the "tweet" has 140 characters to communicate to their followers. A lot time the tweets are a short message and a URL (message pertaining to the URL). The URL can be to a website, blog or even a picture.
When you send a tweet is going to all the people who follow you and will appear in the time line (time line being a list of all the tweets sent by the people they follow).
People who follow you and "retweet" or RT your message, that way all the peeople who follow them will see the message. Its like a big game of telephone (remember that game).
