Just agreeing here, we bell trained past dogs using this method. Whenever I was taking the dog out I would ring it and say potty. Also they recommend using the same door to take pup in and out of your home when you are taking him/her potty. It worked so well for us the cat now uses it when he wants to go on the porch and look at the birds.
