I get the Red Barn ones at Petsmart and Merrick, They do not smell. Like Nancy I throw them away when they get too small, just about 2 inches. I also wont allow him to have them when I am not home ( just to be safe) They do not splinter off like the rawhide type and they are all natural so they are digestible.

I would try one just to try, if you want maybe you can even sit there when he is chewing on it, if you feel that uncomfortable then stop giving them to him. For what it is worth I think they are the safest out there, Pnut only gets bully sticks to chew on, sometimes I will give him a pigs nose, he LOVES those things!!
