Hi everybody. I'm new here as you can probably tell.

I currently have one 7 year old Yorkie named Emmy, and one sweet 4 year old Chocolate Lab named Susie.
I had another Yorkie till about a month ago. He was my baby boy. His name was Bogey and he was 6 years old. He was the most beautiful little boy. I had to put him to sleep after we found out he had some kind of rare deformity with his epiglotis which was impeding his breathing. I am so sad still. I have never lost a dog before. Our house is so empty without my little cuddly guy.
I was not thinking of replacing him, because there is no replacement...but I just can't help wanting a new puppy to love.
I have been looking in my area in San Diego, but I am just clueless as to how to get a good quality puppy. I'm just afraid to get scammed to or get taken by someone who is out to make money.
I got my two Yorkies by asking through the Kennel Club and seeing if they could give me names. Emmy came to me at 10 months and I was never able to contact the lady again. My little Bogey came from a nice lady who I was able to contact yesterday, but she dosen't know anyone who has puppies and dosen't have any currently.
Yesterday I went through the AKC site and there was a lady there who has 3 puppies for sale. She seemed really sweet but she says this is her first time having puppies and shes very new at this. She is local and seemed happy that I wanted to see them, see her home, see the parents etc. Her dogs are AKC registered.
Can anyone give me more advice? or perhaps has another way I can locate a reputable breeder in my area. I'm in the San Diego area and am willing to go 100 miles or so. I really want to talk to the breeder, see the mom and dad etc.
I will try and post some pictures of my babies.
Obtaining a breeder from the AKC does guarantee a well bred dog/reputable, but then nothing does. Do your homework.

AKC offers their classified section for a price, they do not investigate, they do not put their stamp of approval on the breeder. You pay $35.00 and you can advertise your litter.....
