One of mine decided to rub her body while wearing a stretch material type outfit against the x-pen and it got caught, which she got partially pulled off - and wrapped around her neck - and she got scared and started thrashing...if I had not have been home she would of been stranguled.
agreed... i dont like to talk about it...but when I was 20 my papillon was under the couch "crossing-through" chasing his ball and got his collar caught in the metal of my mothers' part of the couch (which was reclined). She is mentally ill. The dog began to thrash and as he did so he virtually hung himself. My husband and I screamed and cried trying to find the collar which was wound so tight it was inbedded deep in his skin and we couldn't find a space to cut (we reacted very fast - he was face-to-face with the little boy, Ozzy...RIP - I ran and grabbed a sizzor and knife) ... it felt like hours but minutes later things got graphic as he ran out of air and within a minute or so he stopped breathing...my father came in the door and threw my mother from the couch...Ozzy was dead... my husband gave him mouth to mouth as I pumped at his chest... but when my dad lifted the couch I think he was already gone... we craddled him and after that my husband was traumatized...he kept showering - 3 times a day...insisting he could smell the dog dying...he was face to face with him... we got him from a mill at 6 weeks... he was 3 years old, 10 lbs... my husband can't talk about it today - and this is the first time I've re-counted the story - six years later...

Ozzy was a family dog - now I'm 26 and married and we can't have kids since I was diagnosed with my brain tumor and behcet's disease + endometriosis - so Rock Star IS our son - we don't leave the house without him...
